The Santa Monica Bay Sailing Foundation is a qualified 501 © (3) corporation. Charitable gifts are welcome and needed to meet it’s mission and goals. A variety of activities provide opportunities for individuals to make a donation, however, gifts are welcome at any time. Please feel free to contact any of the Board members to discuss making a donation or simply use the convenient PAYPAL carts below.

The following is a summary of the Foundation’s income for 2005.
Equipment Donations are accepted knowing that the equipment will be put up for sale. A lack of storage prevents us from keeping large boats, cars, motor homes, or other items. All items are sold as soon as possible and the donor is notified of the sales price for tax purposes.
Individual & Investment Income, over 100 individuals contributed to the foundation.
Del Rey Yacht Club members generously give annually each summer on their monthly billing to help support the Foundation.
Corporate Sponsors support the annual Sail-a-Thon and Paddle for a Purpose events held annually.
An Auction and Raffle is held on the same day as the Sail and Paddle for a Purpose.
Paddle/Sail for a Purpose is an event where people come together to sail and paddle laps for charity. Juniors from the Yacht Clubs of Santa Monica Bay along with adults take turns with laps up and down D Basin in Marina del Rey. Each person request pledges per lap or gifts for participating and the person raising the most money wins a gift certificate for a new boat, usually a Sabot. Many other prizes are awarded to the participants.
The Santa Monica Bay Sailing Foundation is a group of all volunteers committed to promoting sailing for our community. The expenses are minimal and displayed below:
Funded Program Expense: These are the funds that go directly to meet our goals. It includes our support of individuals in a Junior Program, equipment for the Junior Programs, Support for individuals at competitive events including three juniors competiting in New Zealand as the only US representative. It also includes youth training for the best youth sailors in Santa Monica Bay and community outreach by supporting the Women on the Water (WOW) series.
Administration Expenses include insurance, printing, mailings and office supplies.
Fundraising Expenses include advertising and event expenses from the Sail/Paddle for a purpose.
