Who we are

The Santa Monica Bay Sailing Foundation is acting as the managing charity. Led by President Susan Artof, the SMBSF has helped hundreds of youth and adults change their lives through sailing by funding sailing youth scholarships, training, equipment, competition and high school and college sailing teams. The SMBSF funds a summer scholarship program as well as competitive sailing teams at DRYC, CYC, WYC, and KHYC. In addition, the SMBSF has worked with several local charities and has raised over $290,000 to help the greater public during the past 12 years.

2007 Events

1.  Del Rey Yacht Club Racing Program - Racing Sailors who donate to the SMBSF during the upcoming year are eligible for a discount on their racing application entry fees. Click on DRYC.org for more details.

2.  SMBSF is sponsoring the 2007 DRYC Sundown series held on Friday nights during the summer.  Raffels will be conducted after each event. For dates and times, click on  DRYC.org.

3.  The FOUNDATION is proud of its association with the first annual FUBAR cruise to La Paz, Mexico in November 2007.  This event was staged with stop overs in several harbors along the way in order to provide cruise support and social events to powerboat skippers. SMBSF was the beneficary of over $55,000 raised by this event and donated to SMBSF. This money has been earmarked as an endowment for children to attend a yacht club Junior Program.  There is much more information at http://www.fubarodyssey.com.

4.  In 2007, the Association of Santa Monica Bay Yacht Clubs conducted a Champion of Championship event inviting the top skippers to compete against each other.  SMBSF was a title sponsor of this event.

Both Black Knight and Pendragon 4 (picture on home page) auctioned off a position on a Wednesday evening race.  These generous donations were very popular and the two lucky winners were thrilled with the opportunity.  Both pledged to be back to bid again in 2007.

A Corum watch was auctioned at the FUBAR Symposium held in San Diego on November 5, 2007 with all of the proceeds going to the Santa Monica Bay Sailing Foundation.
