GEAR AND EQUIPMENT DONATIONS
These donations are accepted throughout the year based on current IRS guidelines. Much of the equipment is refurbished (if needed) and put up for sale as soon as practical. The funds raised from such sales are applied where the need is greatest. An acknowledgement is promptly forwarded to the donor with verification of the sales price for income tax purposes. When vessels and equipment are received that are appropriate for use by local Junior or Racing Programs, the items are accepted by the Foundation on their behalf to be loaned, leased or transferred to the recipients as is appropriate. The Foundation’s “EBAY for Santa Monica Bay” program promotes an annual clean-up and recycle program to collect equipment donations for resale and reuse.
