approved. The amount involved was small, but the benefits
are incalculable. The Board and this happy young sailor
send their thanks to our generous donors.
LOOKING FOR EQUIPMENT DONATIONS

SMBSF is always looking for boating
equipment that can be donated. We take your donation and
evaluate where the best place is to sell it and then place
it with EBAY or Craig’s list. Throughout the years,
we have raised tens of thousand of dollars for our funded
programs in this way. All donors receive a receipt for
their donation that can be used by you and your accountant
for tax purposes. If you have anything to donate, contact
SMBSF at donations@smbsf.org and we will get back to you
as soon as possible. And thanks!
DRYC GETS OPTI SAILBOATS
November - 2010
Two years ago, a special
event was set up for powerboats to venture down along
the coast of Mexico, stopping in several ports along the
way, with a final stop in La Paz. Envisioned and organized
by DRYC member, Bruce Kessler, the event was named Fleet
Underway to Baja Rally (FUBAR for short), and all net
proceeds were allocated to the SMBSF for the junior program
at DRYC. This money was eventually turned into the purchase
of 20 OPTI sailboats for the DRYC program. This purchase
allows the junior sailors of DRYC to participate in a
growing and competitive international fleet of small sailboats.
With 20 boats in this one program, it is expected that
one day soon, the Marina del Rey area will host a regatta
of 100 boats or more like the ones in San Fransisco. This
purchase will go a long way to change the lives of young
sailors in the area and at DRYC in particular.
SMBSF HAS SUCCESSFUL
"EBAY ON THE BAY" - November 2010

to date. This money goes to many different causes within
the Santa Monica Bay including a youth at-risk program,
junior competion fees, sailing equipment and scholastic
coaching. Ed was helped by many people on the foundation
with some special time put in by Howard Katzman, Sid Lampert
and President Barbara Patman. And for all who helped during
the two swap meets, thanks!
